A kitchen granite countertop can make all the difference in the world to an outdated home. Granite has been around for awhile and has always been a favorite of professional cooks because it’s a smooth, even surface that is easily cleaned. The granite didn’t make it into homes, though, because of cost and weight. Those suckers are heavy! A countertop can weigh more than 500 pounds. Older tops are tile, often ugly and unsanitary or some type of fake material designed to look like stone or wood. The laminate buckles and begins to come away from the base. Granite just doesn’t have those issues.
